The engine optimization here is actually pretty solid for a Ren'Py joint, which surprised me because I was expecting a slideshow with the amount of 3DCG renders they packed in. The animation loops are smooth enough, no weird frame drops when Leyala's doing that thing with her tongue during the early investigation scene. But the save system. Why does every adult VN dev think we want 12 pages of save slots? I never use more than three. The real performance killer is the gallery unlocker, which I had to dig through the game files to find because the default unlock pacing is glacial. Speaking of which, the fffm scene in the third realm with the ebony courtesan and the two asian handmaidens. That's the one where the facial animations actually sync with the audio, which is rare. Most of the time the mouth flaps are just... approximate. Like they're chewing words instead of saying them. The harem route branches are where the writing gets weirdly invested in lore nobody asked for. Atlas, the vampire prince, can rename himself something stupid like "Blorbo" and the text just rolls with it. I spent way too long on the character creation screen wondering if the interracial tag applied to the whole cast or just specific pairings. It's mostly the latter. The assjob scene with the milf council member in realm five is locked behind a dialogue choice that makes no sense unless you've been roleplaying as a complete dickhead the entire time. Male domination isn't really my thing but the game pushes it hard, then suddenly gives you a lesbian foursome you can only watch, not participate in. What's the point of a male protagonist if you're just a camera on a tripod for 20 minutes? The exhibitionism tag is doing a lot of heavy lifting for one scene where Leyala masturbates in a semi-public garden. It's animated, sure, but the background NPCs have PS2-era stiffness. I kept expecting one to T-pose into a hedge. The creampie finishes are consistent though, and the facial scenes actually vary depending on which realm you're in, which is a nice touch. The virgin tag only applies if you avoid certain early encounters, which the game doesn't telegraph at all. I accidentally speedran deflowering the main love interest before the first realm transition and the story just... adapted? That's either good writing or complete narrative collapse. Can't decide.
