The art in Crimson Keep is rough, like someone sketched it during a lunch break and said "good enough." And honestly? That's exactly what makes it work. Cali the demon girl has these slightly off proportions, her horns look like they might fall off if she tilts her head wrong, and her expressions cycle between "mildly annoyed" and "why are you like this." But when the clothes start coming off, that unpolished quality becomes weirdly intimate. Like finding a dirty drawing in someone's notebook instead of a polished centerfold. The jank is the appeal. Combat is standard RPG fare until it isn't. You chip away at her health, she chips away at yours, numbers go up and down. But the game has this mechanic where you can use "tempt" moves, and I spent my first run trying to be noble. Pure damage only. Got her down to one HP, feeling proud of myself, and then the game just... stops. Won't let you finish the fight. Forces you to use tempt. My no-tempt run was dead right there, and I laughed harder than I should've. The demon rebellion plot is whatever, some nonsense about imps revolting, but the real story is how the game keeps pushing you toward being a degenerate. Wish there was more variety in the scenes though. Once you've seen Cali's reactions to a couple tempt moves, you've basically seen them all. The POV perspective does heavy lifting, making you feel like you're actually there in this barely-held-together demon realm. Visual novel segments break up the combat, and the writing has this dry humor that caught me off guard. Not sure if the typos are intentional or just poor translation, but they add character. The whole thing feels like it was made by someone who really needed to get these specific fantasies out of their system, polish be damned.
