The Pilgrimage is a fucking mess and I can't stop thinking about it. That opening shot of Tali, mask off, eyes half-lidded... whoever did the CG work understood what we actually wanted from Mass Effect. Not grand speeches about the Migrant Fleet. Not calibrations. The visual novel format strips away any pretense of gameplay, it's just scene after scene of Tali getting absolutely wrecked by something that definitely isn't in the codex. One frame she's resisting, the next she's... not. The transition between those states happens too fast, honestly. I wish the corruption arc had more beats. But the game is what it is and won't be changing. The sound design is nonexistent. Literally. No music, no effects, just the quiet hum of your own degenerate thoughts. At first I thought my browser was broken, but no, it's a deliberate choice apparently. Or maybe the dev ran out of time during the jam. Either way, the silence makes every wet squelch your brain fills in feel louder. There's a CG near the end where she's looking back at you, mask cracked, and something about her expression made me close the tab then immediately reopen it. You know that feeling when you find exactly the specific thing you were looking for but also kind of hate yourself for looking? This game is that feeling. The monster's final form is ridiculous. Completely impractical. I love it.

Tali's pilgrimage. Right. The thing they send quarians off to do so they can come back with something useful for the Flotilla. Only in this version, the something useful she finds is apparently a galaxy's worth of bad decisions and clothing that doesn't stay on. You know how these sandbox things go. One minute you're just clicking around some 3DCG hub area, the next you're watching an animated scene where Tali's suit is unsealed in ways that would give the Migrant Fleet's admiralty board a collective aneurysm. The character models are... uneven. Liara looks like she's been hitting the med-bay for some aggressive upgrades, all curves and no subtlety, while EDI somehow got even more distracting. Miranda's there too, because of course she is. The whole cast is basically a checklist of "what if we took the Normandy's crew manifest and ran it through a very specific filter." Combat is a thing that happens. I think. There's some clicking, some monster encounters, but honestly it's just the filler between Tali finding new ways to corrupt herself. And corruption here doesn't mean renegade interrupts. It means Jedore, a name that sounds like a sneeze, showing up and things getting... tentacley. The anal scenes with Ashley made me laugh, not because they're bad, but because the animation has this specific jank where limbs just sort of teleport into position. Like the animator gave up halfway and said "close enough." Still watched it though. Twice. The sandbox structure means you're mostly wandering, triggering events, watching Tali's resistance crumble like a wet ration pack. There's a scene where she's just... exploring herself, and the game treats this with the same mechanical detachment as checking your inventory. Wish there was more actual Mass Effect lore woven in instead of just using the names like skins d*** over a generic porn framework. But then that's not really the point, is it. The point is watching Tali Zorah nar Rayya discover that her pilgrimage reward is apparently a complete moral and physical meltdown, one unskippable moan at a time.
