Sonic Inflation Escapade

The whole thing is a mess, that's the charm. Some old Sonic inflation fetish game dug up from a 2006 hard drive by a guy named Jim "Chaotic" and slapped onto Newgrounds. It doesn't even try to hide its crust. The loading screen is probably the most honest part, just a jpeg that looks like it was compressed by a microwave. You pick your path with Knuckles, and the dialogue reads like someone transcribed a bad dream after huffing paint. Rouge the Bat talks like she's reading from a teleprompter that's actively glitching. I clicked through mostly out of morbid curiosity, the kind you get when you see a traffic accident. The choice system is barebones, a couple of branching text prompts that all funnel toward the same sticky end. There's this one moment with Amy Rose that caught me off guard. She's drawn with this weirdly intense expression, eyes too big, and the text just says something like "you feel a tightness in your chest." Then the inflation starts. It's not animated smoothly, more like a slideshow of someone rapidly drawing bigger circles. The sound effect is a stock balloon squeak. I laughed, then felt a bit hollow. The porn aspect is there, technically, but it's so detached and bizarre that it loops back around to being something else entirely. You're not aroused, you're just... watching events unfold. I wish the Rouge scene had more branches. It doesn't. Never will. The whole project has this digital patina of a bygone era, a time capsule of specific, unpolished internet id. The Knuckles path is the longest, which makes sense for a "pov" tag but the humor isn't intentional comedy, it's just what happens when a Sonic parody is written with zero irony. I spent way too long on the title screen, honestly. The font choice is what got me, some default system font that screams Windows XP. The game forgets about Sonic halfway through, he's just gone from the narrative, which feels like a profound statement about the character's relevance that I'm not smart enough to make.
