Living with Belle v0.01

The laundry timer buzzed and I just let it go. Belle was doing that thing with her hair, twirling it while pretending to read, and I’d already clicked through three dialogue choices that somehow all led to her bending over to pick up something she dropped. The game knows what it’s doing. Living with Belle is a parody of those old dating sims where you’d wait forever for a glimpse of anime cleavage, except here the waiting is measured in seconds, not episodes. The art is deliberately rough, like someone sketched it on a napkin during a boring meeting, but that almost makes it funnier when things escalate. The roommate setup means you’re always “accidentally” walking in on someone, and Belle’s expressions shift from annoyed to interested in a way that’s so over the top I snorted coffee once. Sound design is basically nonexistent. A few generic clicks, no voice acting, which is a shame because hearing these ridiculous lines delivered deadpan would’ve been gold. There’s this one scene with the neighbor, I forget her name, where she’s supposed to be asking for sugar but the text is so blatantly not about sugar that I laughed. The whole thing feels like a joke that keeps going until suddenly it’s not a joke anymore and you’re genuinely invested in whether Belle takes off her top. The animations are stiff, sometimes they glitch, once her arm passed right through the couch and I had to restart. I wish there was more to do between the scenes, maybe a mini game or something, but then again I’m not here for gameplay. What sticks with me is how unapologetic it is. It’s a smutty little parody that doesn’t try to be more, and that’s fine. The dating sim tags are a lie, there’s no deep relationship building, just a series of escalating situations with girls who have the same face but different hair colors. I kept playing because the writing, despite being dumb, has timing. The way a line pauses before the explicit reveal. My coffee got cold. The laundry finished its cycle and I ignored that too.
