The Rise of Bhaal Alpha 0.0.1

The pixel art in this one is rough, like someone's first RPG Maker project rough, but the character designs have this weird charm. Bhaal's sister Ullene shows up in what I can only describe as demonic office attire, all sharp angles and exposed skin, and there's a scene early on where she's explaining the whole "dad ditched us to get tortured by heaven" plot while her sprite just... bounces slightly. The idle animation cycle is hypnotic in the worst way. I spent way too long staring at it. The park scene on Tuesday. That's the one that got me. You go there expecting maybe a dialogue tree or some lore dump about Gehenna's bureaucracy, and instead there's this encounter with a woman who's clearly not human but trying very hard to look like she is. The writing during the sex scene is surprisingly direct, no flowery metaphors, just "he grabbed her horns and she made a sound like a modem dying" energy. I mean that as a compliment. The sound design is nonexistent though, which for a chiptune fan is basically a war crime. Give me some crunchy FM synth moans or something, anything. The NTR route with Marie is where things get genuinely uncomfortable in a way that works. You have to enable it manually when prompted, which feels like signing a waiver, and then you go to her house and it's just... bleak. The demon mythology stuff gets tangled up with the cheating in ways that don't fully make sense but the vibes are rancid in a good way. There's a moment where Bhaal watches through a window and the text describes his claws digging into the windowsill and I laughed but also felt weird about it. The game knows what it's doing. Wish there was more Ullene content. She's the most interesting character and she mostly just exposits then vanishes. A DLC where you actually get to explore whatever weird tension exists between the siblings would fix something in me. The patreon link at the start is aggressive but I get it, the dev's clearly working solo and the whole thing has that "made in a bedroom at weird hours" energy that's either endearing or exhausting depending on your mood. The Bhaal punishment lore is genuinely interesting mythology that the porn keeps interrupting.
