Dragon Date

The pixel art is crusty in that specific way where you can tell the artist spent three hours on a dragon nipple but forgot to give the human sprites proper hands. Respect. I booted up Dragon Date expecting another slapped together fantasy hentai thing and instead got... well, it IS that, but the weird political setup grabbed me. Fifty years after some big dragon-human war and the Templar Order still wants to genocide the scaly ladies while dragon clans hold grudges. You're the caretaker, which apparently means mediating territorial beef between fire breathers while also, you know. The first dragon you meet, a red one with trust issues, has a scene where she pins you against a cave wall and the dialogue tree splits into "submit" or "submit but with eye contact." I picked the second option. The writing during these moments has this odd sincerity, like someone's barely disguised fetish for being dominated by a creature that could incinerate you but chooses to just sit on your face instead. The sex scenes are fully explicit, no fade to black nonsense, with that chunky sprite animation where everything jiggles one frame at a time. There's a blue dragon later who's into some temperature play stuff that made me genuinely concerned about pixel frostbite. The gameplay loop is standard dating sim fare. Raise affection, pick dialogue, repeat. But there's this faction reputation system that keeps track of how much the Templars hate you versus how much the dragon clans trust you, and I have no idea if it actually matters or if it's just flavor text. I spent twenty minutes stressing over a decision about whether to report a dragon sighting, only for the game to ignore my choice two scenes later. Classic. The translation has that beautiful broken English quality where characters say things like "My vengeance will be quenched upon their bones" and you're not sure if it's poetic or just wrong. The sound design is three royalty free tracks on loop and a squelch effect during intimate moments that I can't unhear. Still thinking about it.
