Got a soft spot for that specific shade of neon blue on synthetic skin. You know the one, where the light catches the seam between a shoulder blade and a cybernetic port. Stella has that. The whole prequel thing is basically a recruitment drive, your old engineer wants to go smell real flowers instead of recycled oxygen, so you're scrolling through candidates and then there she is. Charming, they call her. Charming is a word for it. The way her interface flickers when she's processing something dirty you said, that little stutter in her holographic projection. The game just throws you into this cramped ship corridor with her, and the art is rough. Deliberately so, like someone sketched it on a datapad during a long haul and forgot to clean up the lines. But it works. Makes it feel more... immediate? There's a moment where you're calibrating her tactile sensors, which is just an excuse to trace a finger down her projected spine, and the whole screen gets this grainy heat haze. My phone nearly melted. Not from the processor, the browser was fine. Just. Yeah. The writing doesn't try to be clever, it's just two people in a metal box getting increasingly stupid for each other. Wish the UI for selecting dialogue was less clunky though. Missed a prompt once because my thumb is fat and had to replay the whole sensor calibration bit. Not that I minded replaying it. The sound design is mostly just ambient hums and her voice, which is modulated but cracks in a very human way when you hit the right nerve. Literally, there's a nerve cluster mini game. Don't ask me why a ship's engineer needs a nerve cluster mini game. Don't care. There's this one expression she makes, eyes half lidded and a smirk that's just a bit too wide, that I've been trying to screenshot for an hour but the damn thing always blinks at the wrong time. Probably intentional. Bastards.
