The first thing that hits you isn't the animation. It's the sound. A wet, rhythmic squelch that loops just slightly off beat, like a broken metronome in a flooded basement. Night Tales, or whatever this collection of scenes is actually called, doesn't bother with menus or context. You click a thumbnail of a wide eyed, terrified fairy tale reject and suddenly the screen is full of flesh and rope. The torture tag isn't kidding around. This isn't the playful spanking you see in softer hentai. There's a sequence with a character clearly meant to evoke Red Riding Hood, strung up by her wrists, her body marked with red welts that the artist rendered with almost loving detail. The animation is deliberately crude, a jerky, frame by frame motion that makes the impact feel heavier somehow. Less polished, more... clinical. Like watching a flipbook of a bad idea. The "lights off" tag seems to refer to the dim, murky palette, everything bathed in a sickly green or bruise purple, as if the whole thing is happening in a cellar. I got stuck on one minor detail for an absurd amount of time. There's a scene with a mermaid, her tail split and pinned open, and a single bead of sweat or maybe a tear rolls down her cheek. It doesn't track with the movement of her head. It just slides straight down, defying the physics of her thrashing, and it's so stupidly distracting. A tiny, frozen droplet in a sea of exaggerated suffering. The alternatives tag makes sense now, you're just picking your poison, different angles of the same grim vignette. The voice acting, if you can call it that, is a loop of choked sobs and gurgles that starts to sound like a faulty plumbing fixture after a few minutes. It's not erotic, it's unnerving. And maybe that's the point? A moral philosopher would have a field day with the consent issues here, the way the fairy tale framing tries to put a thin coat of fantasy over what is essentially a series of snuff adjacent dioramas. The hentai tag feels almost misleading, this is something else entirely. Something that makes you want to check if your browser history is truly private, not because of shame, but because explaining this to anyone would require a flowchart and a very understanding therapist. The soundtrack is just a low, droning synth that never resolves, leaving you in a permanent state of anxious anticipation that never pays off.
