I'll put the pack on the nightstand, look away to click through some dialogue about my dead dad's house, and poof. Gone. Then he giggles from somewhere offscreen and the text box says he likes the way they smell on my breath later. That's the whole game, really. A haunting that wants to sit in your lap. The setup is standard visual novel fare. Inherited house, fresh start, mysterious apparitions only the protagonist can perceive. But the apparitions are all skinny, pretty boys in thigh highs who seem more interested in getting under your clothes than resolving their unfinished business. The writing knows exactly what it is. One scene has you explaining modern plumbing to a spirit who's been dead since the Victorian era, and three dialogue choices later he's asking if you want to see what's under his petticoat. The tonal whiplash should be jarring but somehow isn't. Maybe because the game never pretends to be anything other than a delivery system for femboy erotica with just enough plot to keep you clicking. The AI art is a whole thing. Sometimes it's genuinely striking, the way the soft lighting catches the curve of a collarbone or how the characters' expressions shift from coy to needy between frames. Other times a hand will have seven fingers or an ear will be melting into a shoulder and you remember oh right, no human drew this. It's distracting in the way a typo in a sext is distracting. You're in the moment and then suddenly you're not. The game's self aware about it though, there's a disclaimer right up front, and honestly the jank kind of adds to the fever dream quality of the whole experience. These boys exist only in the protagonist's mind and they look like it. The yaoi scenes are explicit without being mechanical. There's a sequence with the shy one, the one who wears the oversized sweater, where the text spends three paragraphs just describing the way he trembles when you touch his stomach. That's the good stuff. Not the anatomy, the anticipation. Then the next scene will have a line so clunky you'll screenshot it for a group chat. "Your manhood throbs with ancient purpose." Ancient purpose. I think about that phrase more than I should.
