Katies diaries Ep. 4

The whole thing runs on that weird card battle system, you know the one. Katie throws down a "Nympho" trait card and suddenly her top is off. It's like playing poker but the stakes are your dignity and the dealer is a physics engine that gave up halfway through. The animation is what really gets me. It's not bad exactly, it's just... ambitious in a way that makes you think the characters are trying to escape their own skeletons. One moment Brandy is doing a VIP room dance, the next her elbow is passing through her own ribcage like a ghost at a very specific kind of orgy. I spent a good chunk of time just trying to get the "Ka" meter to fill up. You need it for the big finish, obviously, but the game never tells you why a successful block gives you more points than a direct hit. It's a mystery. Like the plot. Katie is a scientist or something? She works in a lab, which is mentioned once and then we're in a night club with strobe lights that look like melted candy. The whole "Katie Diaries" framing is just a flimsy excuse to get her into a dress that looks like it was painted on by someone who hates fabric. I wish there was a button to just skip the card game and watch the scenes, but that would ruin the illusion of earning it, wouldn't it. There's a moment where you play the "Tortue" card, which I think is supposed to be a defensive move, but it just makes the other character move in slow motion. It's genuinely funny. You're trying to have this intense, sweaty encounter and suddenly everyone's underwater. The sound design is just a single looping bass track that doesn't so much set a mood as bludgeon you with it. By the time you unlock the final VIP scene, you've seen the same three animations so many times you could draw them from memory. The game is a mess, a glorious, horny mess that feels like it was coded in a fugue state. Dare to play it alone, or invite company?
