The first time the school nurse bent over her desk and the screen went all fuzzy at the edges, I knew this wasn't just another Honey Select knockoff. There's something wrong with Mistbury. Not in the obvious "oh look, tentacles" way, but in how the corruption mechanic actually makes you feel like you're losing something. Not your soul, exactly. More like your ability to tell what's normal. The animations are janky as hell sometimes. During the prison infiltration scene, the guard's tits clipped right through her uniform and I laughed so hard I almost closed the tab. But then the horror elements kicked in and suddenly I'm not laughing anymore because the same glitchy character models are doing things that made my skin crawl. The game doesn't separate its porn from its dread. One minute you're fingering a classmate behind the gymnasium, the next you're reading journal entries about people who disappeared. The transition is never clean. Speaking of not clean, the anal scenes unlock way too late. I spent forever grinding through the romance paths with the mysterious mansion girl only to find out her corruption threshold needs to be basically maxed. By that point I'd already seen her true form, which. Let's just say the horror tag isn't kidding around. The male protagonist's internal monologue gets increasingly unhinged as you push deeper into the conspiracy stuff, and the masturbation scenes start feeling less like rewards and more like symptoms. Which is probably intentional? The writing is inconsistent though. Sometimes it's genuinely creepy, other times it reads like a teenager's first creepypasta. "Esse est deus" is just Latin for "I played too much Resident Evil." The mobile optimization is surprisingly decent. Played most of it on my phone during lunch breaks, which made the school setting segments hit different. Nothing like scrolling through corrupted text messages from fictional demons while your coworkers discuss quarterly reports. The big tits physics are absurd, obviously, but that's Honey Select for you. What's weird is how the game almost seems embarrassed by its own porn sometimes, like it wants to be a proper horror VN but remembered it needs to sell. The vaginal sex scenes are competent but forgettable. The oral stuff has more personality. There's one scene with a character I won't spoil where the corruption meter fills up during the act and her dialogue shifts mid-sentence from romantic to something else entirely. That stuck with me. I keep thinking about the ending I got. Not because it was satisfying, but because I'm still not sure if I actually saved anyone or just convinced myself I did. The game doesn't clarify. Maybe that's the point. Maybe the developers just ran out of budget. Hard to tell with these things.
