Xmas Slider

The thing about these slide puzzles is you never really know what you're working toward until the last few pieces click in. Started this one, some xmas themed hentai thing, and for the longest time it was just fragments of red fabric and pale skin. The santa outfit, obviously. But the way the pieces are cut, you get these weird abstract chunks. A curve here that could be anything. A bit of white trim that might be hair or might be the hat. It's oddly compelling, clicking one square then another, watching them swap places. The mechanic is basic, you click a piece, then click where you want it to go. No drag and drop, which threw me off at first. Kept trying to slide things with my finger on the trackpad like an idiot. The image itself is pretty standard anime style, big eyes, that glossy look to the skin, the kind of proportions that make you roll your eyes but also, well, here we are. The santa outfit is barely there, more suggestion than clothing. By the time you get the face assembled, she's got this expression that's supposed to be inviting but comes off a bit vacant. Not that it matters when you're just trying to line up the candy cane. What's weird is how the puzzle difficulty doesn't match the content. It's like, here's some softcore hentai, now solve this spatial reasoning test. The pieces snap into place with no animation, no sound, just a silent transaction. And the background of the puzzle grid is this ugly grey that clashes with the warm reds and golds of the image. Spent way too long on one corner where the ribbon meets the stocking, three nearly identical dark pieces that could go anywhere. The final image is fine, I guess. Nothing you haven't seen on a hundred other flash sites back in the day. The santa hat stays on, which is either a plus or a minus depending on your thing. The whole experience feels like finding an old CD-R with a handwritten label, you know exactly what's on it but you still put it in the drive.
