SpornBob: Deep In Bikini Bottom v1.0

A wanted man washes ashore in Bikini Bottom, hides in a pineapple, and the first thing he does with his new identity is figure out how to use a spatula for something other than flipping patties. I respect the honesty. No pretense about "corruption arcs" or moral dilemmas, just a fugitive wearing yellow skin like a cheap halloween costume and the entire town too blissfully stupid to notice. The opening storm sequence hits different when you know it's the most normal thing that'll happen for the next few hours. The animation work during scenes, right, it's rough. Not in a "charming indie" way but a "someone learned Spine yesterday and decided to ship it" way. Mouths don't sync, limbs slide around like they're on ice. And somehow that makes it funnier. Watching Sandy's massive, physics defying chest animate with the grace of a powerpoint presentation while she delivers lines that sound like they were run through google translate three times, it becomes its own kind of performance art. You're not here for polish. You're here because the concept is so broken it circles back to compelling. The inventory system though, why does a sandbox game need an inventory system this obtuse. I spent twenty minutes trying to equip a seashell and I still don't know if I succeeded or if the shell just ceased to exist. There's this one mini game where you have to, I think, serve customers at the Krusty Krab but the hit detection is so inconsistent I started treating it like a rhythm game with no music. Just clicking on vibes. Eventually I gave up and went back to exploring, found Mr. Krabs doing something unspeakable with a treasure chest, and honestly that's the core loop. Wander around, find depravity, laugh, get mildly annoyed at a UI choice, repeat. The graphic violence tag isn't joking by the way, there's a scene that made me put my drink down. Not in a bad way, just, unexpected tonal whiplash when one moment you're getting a handjob from a fish and the next someone's insides are outsides. Cartoon logic I guess.
