The money just sits there in your account, a number so absurd you stopped checking it weeks ago. Friends in Need starts with a flashback to your own spectacular fuckup, a financial disaster that somehow inverted itself into this obscene wealth. Now Cassie, your best friend since forever, the one you've been quietly obsessed with, shows up at your door looking wrecked. She needs help. Real help. And you can give it. The game puts a little angel and devil on your shoulder, literally. A morality tracker ticks away with every choice. Help her out of genuine kindness? Points to the light side. Use her desperation to get your dick wet? Yeah, that's the other path. The writing by NeonGhosts doesn't judge, which is the scary part. It just presents options. You can be the savior who asks nothing in return, slowly building something real. Or you can watch her squirm as you attach strings to every dollar. The first chapter's art from HorizonticalStudio has this soft, almost too-pretty quality that makes the sleazy choices feel even more wrong. Or right, depending on your wiring. What got me was how the game makes the corruption feel... logical. Not cartoonish evil, but a slow erosion. You start with a small ask. A little touch. She's grateful, right? And you did save her. The taboo themes are there if you want them, but the game's smart enough to let you be a decent human being too. I wish the later CG renders from NeonGhosts had the same polish as the opening chapter, but that's a minor gripe. The real hook is watching that morality meter swing and realizing you don't care which way it goes. That's the moment the game has you.
