He's got this dead mom quest, a classic, and his dad is like, "It was definitely one of those nine noble families, go figure it out." So what does he do? He starts sleeping with all the suspects. This is not detective work, this is a cry for help. His desire isn't for justice, it's to literally fuck the mystery away, to find some twisted comfort inside the very people who might have destroyed his family. It's a self-destructive loop and honestly, the 3DCG animations make it look way more fun than my clinical notes would suggest. The first date with this game is all "ooh, medieval fantasy politics, a murder plot, I'm a serious investigator." You're clicking through dialogue, meeting these pretentious noble ladies, and the renders are... well, they're deliberately unpolished, right? Some of the faces look like they're melting in a very specific, almost charming way. Then you get to the long-term relationship phase and it's just pure chaos. One minute you're uncovering a secret alliance, the next you're in a scene that makes you forget what a "city state" even is. The magic system? I don't know, man, it's there. Sometimes a spell is cast, sometimes a skirt just evaporates. The game doesn't care about the rules and neither should you. There's this one moment with a character, I think from the merchant family, where a serious conversation about trade routes just derails into a full-on explicit scene. No transition. Like the game forgot what it was talking about. And the sound design, or lack of it, makes it even more surreal. Just the quiet hum of your own degenerate choices. The plot twists are so spicy they're nonsensical. Allies become enemies, then lovers, then enemies again, and you're just nodding along because the next lewd scene is loading. I kept waiting for a journal or a clue log to keep track of the actual murder, but nah, the only thing getting tracked is which noble lady you've corrupted this week. It's a mess. A glorious, horny mess that completely abandons its own premise halfway through.
