The red king sits there, smug little bastard, and you're supposed to grab him before the other side does. But the board isn't a board, it's a grid of wrong turns and dead ends, and every time you think you've got a path, the black pieces shift like they're laughing at you. Arrow keys, that's it. No fancy mouse work. Just your fingers twitching while a blonde woman in a photo watches you fail. Not a real model in the sense of someone you'd meet, but the pictures are real enough, that kind of glossy amateur shoot where the lighting is slightly off and her smile doesn't match her eyes. After each level, the image changes. Sometimes she's wearing less. Sometimes she's just standing there with a chess piece in her mouth like she knows something you don't. The logic is simple until it isn't. Move fast, choose right, but the game doesn't care about your strategy. It cares about whether you can outrun a timer that feels like it was set by someone who hates you. I spent way too long on level four because the red king kept slipping behind a rook, and the rook wasn't even a real chess piece, just a photo cutout that blocked my path. The strip element is there, but it's weirdly clinical. You get a new picture, she's down to a bra, then panties, then nothing, but the photos are so static they might as well be from a 2004 flip phone gallery. Which, honestly, kind of works if you're into that degraded, found-footage vibe. Like you stumbled onto a USB stick in a parking lot and now you're playing chess for nudity. The minigame part is the whole game, really. No dialogue, no story, just you and the red king and a series of increasingly claustrophobic boards. Sometimes the arrow keys don't register fast enough and you'll slide into a corner and the black king wins by default. That's not a mechanic, that's just the game being a dick. I wish the photos were more interactive, like maybe she'd react to your moves, but no. She just stares. I forgot to mention the sound. There is none. Silent as a tomb. Which makes the whole thing feel like a ritual you're performing alone at a desk, and maybe that's the point. The eldritch kink here isn't tentacles or cosmic horror, it's the slow realization that you're trapped in a loop of bad chess and worse photography, and the only way out is to keep winning until the pictures run out. They do run out. Then you're just playing chess against yourself, and the blonde is gone, and the red king is still there, waiting.
