UnPoker

The cards hitting the felt sound wrong. Not the shuffle, that’s fine, but the deal has this papery sc*** like a phone speaker trying to imitate something it can’t quite remember. You’re playing five card draw against a woman who is clearly a real model photographed for this, and the disconnect between her static, almost bored expression and your frantic discarding to build a flush is the whole experience. It lives on that edge. The poker logic is stripped bare, no wild cards or weird house rules, just the raw math of what beats what, and each winning hand removes an article of her clothing. The striptease is the only animation, a short loop that plays once then freezes, leaving her standing there in a new state of undress, waiting for the next hand like she’s checking her own watch. I spent an embarrassing amount of time on the second opponent. She has this red top that the light catches in a very specific way, a kind of glossy highlight on the fabric that my brain decided was the most erotic thing in the entire app. The cards themselves are almost an afterthought. You tap to hold, tap to discard, and the game resolves your hand with a little text blip. Flush. Straight. High card. The real strategy is in what you choose to notice, the gap in the curtains behind her, the fact that her smile doesn’t change even when she’s down to the final bet. It’s not a bug, it’s a feature of the format. The mobile version is the only way this makes sense. This isn’t something you sit down with, it’s something you thumb through while the kettle boils, a tiny puzzle where the reward is a photograph of a woman pretending she doesn’t know you’re looking at the photograph. The poker is almost insultingly simple once you realize the AI folds on anything lower than two pair. But then she leans forward to deal another hand and the light does that thing again on the fabric and you’re discarding three cards to chase a diamond flush you don’t need. The whole thing occupies a strange middle ground where a deck of cards is trying to seduce you.
