So Lovephobia then. The name makes you think it's about fear of love or whatever but really it's about a guy coming home after a year abroad doing that Work and Travel thing. You know the type, comes back with a tan and some stories and suddenly everyone looks at you different. The game opens with this forced NTR scene that honestly made me close the tab for a second. Some side character you barely know, and there it is. The dev says it's unavoidable and yeah, it's right there in your face before you even understand what's happening. I respect the commitment to making you uncomfortable I guess? But also why. The rest of the NTR stuff is supposedly avoidable if you make the right choices, except the description also says it's "not completely avoidable for all girls" which is one of those sentences that makes you squint and read it three times. The main girl's love route is clean though, pure vanilla, no sharing. So there's that. The slice of life stuff works in this weird way where you're just... existing in this small world. Connected fates and all that. The writing has moments where it feels like someone's actual messy life instead of a porn script, and then other times a character will say something so stilted I wondered if Google Translate was involved. The art style is deliberately rough around the edges, which fits the whole unpolished vibe. Not every female character is a love interest, which the dev felt the need to clarify in the description like someone yelled at them about it. Probably did. There's this one scene with the main girl where she's just talking about her year while you were gone, and the way her expression shifts mid sentence, that's the good stuff. That's what keeps you clicking. Then the next scene is some side character drama that goes nowhere and you remember oh right, this game doesn't always know what it wants to be. It is what it is, as the description says. A shrug in game form.
