City of Dreams

Claire steps off the bus with a suitcase that's seen better days and a smile that hasn't been broken yet. The AI art here, it's rough. Like, sometimes her fingers melt into her palm or the background just gives up and turns into a blurry soup. But there's something weirdly fitting about it. The city looks half finished, all smeared neon and buildings that don't quite connect right, which is basically how dreams feel before reality punches them in the gut. You follow her through auditions where directors ask for "private readings" and landlords who suddenly get very flexible about rent when she's short on cash. The corruption stuff, it doesn't explode. It oozes. One minute she's practicing monologues in her cramped apartment, the next she's letting some casting agent's hand wander because he mentioned knowing someone at a network. And you're clicking through it, watching her internal voice go from "this is just temporary" to "what's one more compromise." The sex scenes are explicit but also kind of sad, which I think is the point. She fucks a producer on a couch that looks like it was drawn by someone who's only ever heard couches described over the phone. The dialogue during these moments, it's stiff and unnatural, but honestly, so is most pillow talk when you're trading your body for a callback. I forgot to mention the city itself. It's supposed to be this glittering metropolis but half the time it's just the same three street corners recycled with different color filters. There's a subplot about her rival actress that goes absolutely nowhere, just fizzles out around the midpoint. The model tag, it's doing some heavy lifting here. Claire starts out sweet and doe-eyed and by the end she's got this hollow, thousand-yard stare that the AI actually captures decently. Not sure if that's intentional or just the algorithm being weird about eye rendering. Dare to play it alone, or invite company?
