Right in the feels and right in the pants, that's the cheap trick this visual novel pulls. A Summer's End, Hong Kong 1986. Michelle, this uptight office lady with glasses that make me feel things, literally bumps into Sam on the street. Sam's got that whole carefree, teased-hair, city pop vibe that screams trouble and wet dreams. The first time they kiss in Sam's cramped apartment, surrounded by those retro movie posters, I was already fidgeting. The teasing is unreal. It's not just a quick flash of tits and a fade to black. The game makes you wait, makes you soak in the tension. There's a scene where Sam traces a finger down Michelle's blouse, not even undoing a button, and I swear I held my breath. The visual design, that 80s anime aesthetic with the pink and teal neon glow, it's like a softcore music video from a VHS tape you'd hide from your parents. The oral scenes hit different because of that buildup. When Michelle finally gets her mouth on Sam, the CGs are explicit but wrapped in this gauzy, romantic light. It's raw but tender, a hand gripping hair, a stifled moan, the way the artist draws a bead of sweat. The family drama with Michelle's traditional mom is a total boner killer sometimes though. You're riding high on a steamy dream sequence, all tangled limbs and whispered confessions, and then bam, a lecture about getting married to a nice man. It's jarring. I wish the game would just let them be horny without the guilt trip, but it won't. That's the whole point, I guess. The multiple endings thing is a lie, by the way. I got the bad one first try because I chose a dialogue option that seemed flirty but was apparently too forward for 1986 Hong Kong standards. Fuck that. Speaking of dialogue, some of the translation feels a bit stiff, like a textbook instead of a real person. But then Sam will drop a line so smooth it makes my stomach flip. The relationship isn't just a tag, it's a slow, painful, beautiful burn. There's a moment on a rooftop where they're just talking about dreams, not even touching, and it's hotter than half the porn games I've played. The game is about seeking identity, sure, but I'm just here for the part where Michelle discovers she really likes eating pussy. And that discovery is a goddamn masterpiece. The way her expression shifts from confusion to desperate hunger, the artist nailed it. Pure, concentrated eroticism framed by a killer soundtrack.
