Shadow Springs isn't even a real place on any map I've seen but you're a vampire and the whole deal is knocking up humans. Not for love or whatever. For clan power. The numbers go up. Your tribe needs bodies, literally, so you go around this fantasy town seducing women and there's this one redhead with freckles that I spent way too long trying to figure out the right dialogue path for. She's got that Lesson of Passion style where one wrong click and suddenly you're getting a cold shoulder instead of... you know. The monster girls are there too but they're not the target which feels like a missed opportunity honestly. Why have a vampire and a monster tag if you can't even. The CG hentai scenes unlock after these choice sequences that feel like they were coded by someone who just discovered Ren'Py yesterday. Not polished at all. The brunette barmaid has this one expression where her eyes go in slightly different directions and I couldn't stop noticing it. Still clicked through. Still finished the route. The impregnation mechanic isn't some deep system, it's just the plot excuse to move from scene to scene, and sometimes the writing forgets it's supposed to be a visual novel and just throws static images at you with text that reads like it was translated through three different languages before landing in English. "Your seed will make the clan strong" or something equally direct. No subtlety. The vampire protagonist has all the personality of wet cardboard but maybe that's the point. You're just a vessel for the breeding agenda. There's a scene with a monster in the woods that I wish had more buildup because the art actually looked decent for two frames before cutting away. Two frames. That's what sticks with me. Not the main quest, not the redhead's surprisingly well written backstory that gets abandoned halfway through, but those two frames of a creature design that someone clearly cared about. The whole thing feels like that. Flashes of effort surrounded by whatever gets the job done.
