The Lich’s right hand woman, she’s got this thing for chains. Not the delicate kind. I mean the heavy, clanking, dragging across stone floors while she explains the new tax laws kind. And the princess, locked away, isn’t some weeping damsel. She’s got a secret that makes the undead king on the throne look like a minor inconvenience. The whole setup is a mess you helped create, a courtier who sold out the old regime and now has to live in the world you built. The art is 2D, static images, but some of the scenes have this rough, almost unfinished quality to the linework that makes the nasty bits feel more immediate, less polished fantasy. There’s a titfuck scene with a resistance fighter that’s drawn with a kind of desperate, angry energy you don’t see in cleaner games. The sound design is mostly silence, which is a choice. It makes the sudden wet noises or a sharp gasp cut through harder. There’s no voice acting, which is a shame because the writing is trying for this old world, dusty tome feel and a good actor could really sell the lines about damnation and redemption. The branching paths are real, not just flavor. You can throw in with the Lich, get cozy with his sadistic advisor, and the group sex scenes that follow are less about pleasure and more about power, a lot of groping and use of bodies as furniture. Or you can try the resistance, which involves a lot of fumbling in the dark and a surprisingly tender lesbian encounter in a root cellar that’s all soft whispers and the smell of dirt. The BDSM isn’t just for show either, it’s woven into the prostitution mechanics where you can pimp out allies for information, and the graphic violence tag earns its place with some torture descriptions that are clinical and cold, making the sex that follows feel like a transaction of a different sort. The multiple endings thing, I got one where I was basically a mercenary, loyal to no one, and it felt hollow. The game forgets about the big ass tag for long stretches, then hits you with a monster scene that’s all slime and improbable anatomy. It’s a visual novel, so you’re reading a lot, and sometimes the prose gets tangled in its own feet trying to sound like a forgotten tome. But then a line like “she wore her degradation like a favorite shawl” lands and you remember why you’re clicking through. The fantasy setting is just a backdrop for people being awful and horny to each other, and the princess’s secret, when it comes out, re-contextualizes every vaginal sex scene you’ve seen up to that point. It’s a sequel, but I never played the first one and the gaps just felt like more of the mystery. The erotic short stories are tucked away in the menu, easy to miss, and one of them is better than half the main plot.
