EVA7- Rebirth

The whole thing runs on spite. Nine years. Nine years Shinji and Asuka have been stuck on this chunk of floating earth, and Rei finally snaps. Not in the quiet, creepy way she does in the show. She just gets sick of the bickering and forces them into a game of strip blackjack. The setup is pure fanfic chaos, the kind where you can hear the author cackling while typing. You play as Shinji, and the goal is to win cards, win hands, and watch Asuka lose her plugsuit piece by piece. Card mechanics are basic. Hit, stay, don't bust. Score a natural blackjack and you actually get a piece of clothing back, which is a neat little reversal that keeps the tension from being a one way street. The AI isn't brilliant. Asuka will sometimes hit on a 17 like she's got a death wish, and other times she'll stand on a soft 13 that makes no sense. It's not about balanced gameplay though. It's about the humiliation ritual. Every lost hand peels away another layer, and the art shifts from her standard red suit to something more... compromised. The voice acting is a surprise. Actual lines, actual delivery. Kurosaki and Veechan put in work that this flash game probably didn't deserve, and it elevates the whole thing from a lazy slideshow to something with genuine character. There's a hidden eyeball button when the game loads. Click it. Just do it. Trust me on this. The blooper reel stuff from the FH crew seeps into the tone, so don't expect a serious Evangelion meditation on loneliness. Expect Asuka calling Shinji an idiot while her bra is on the line. The humor lands somewhere between a Newgrounds shitpost and an actual character study, which is a weird space to occupy. The strip element is the point, obviously, but the writing remembers these are traumatized pilots, not just cardboard cutouts. Shinji's internal monologue during wins is perfectly pathetic. The whole thing is a mess of fan service and inside jokes, and that's exactly what it wants to be.
