The pixel succubus just stands there, blinking in that choppy Pico-8 way, and I'm already sweating. Not from the heat. Girl Scare isn't trying to be pretty. It's this raw, crunchy little horror clicker where the "horror" is a monster girl who wants to jump your bones and the "clicker" part is you frantically tapping to not get jumped. The minigame loop is stupid simple. A girl appears. You either fight by mashing fast enough or you flight, which I think just means you lose on purpose to see what happens. I lost on purpose a lot. The upgrade system is where my brain short circuited. You earn whatever the currency is, souls or fear juice, and you buy faster clicking or stronger resistance. But the numbers go up so slow at first. I spent way too long on the first succubus because I kept wanting to see the lose animation again. The pixel art is so minimal, just these suggestive little sprites, but the way they move when you fail. It's like a flipbook made by someone who really needed to get off. There's this one frame, just before the scene loops, where her expression changes. Chef's kiss. I'm not even sure if it's intentional or a sprite glitch but I live for it. Unlocking new girls becomes this obsession. You think you're fast enough and then the next one has a completely different rhythm. The magic tag comes in with some later characters who have these sparkly effects that distract you right when you need to click. Actual tactical horny distraction. I wish there was a gallery mode though. Like, let me just view the scenes I've unlocked without having to fail the minigame every time. My finger gets tired. Also the flight option feels undercooked. You just kind of leave and nothing happens. Missed opportunity for a different kind of scene, maybe a chase sequence or something. Anyway the whole thing runs in like two megabytes and it's free so I'm just complaining about free porn at this point.
